Job Description & Requirements

The Johns Hopkins PICU is a 40 bed state of the art, medical-surgical intensive care unit that cares for pediatric patients from newborns to 22 years of age with multiple diagnoses: cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, general pediatric surgery, transplants, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), oncology, and multisystem failure. The Tele ICU Resource Nurse provides virtual coaching and just-in time education to PICU bedside nurses PICU Nurse also has a passion for mentoring nurses, and providing direct patient care. Supports the successful onboarding of the novice PICU nurse in the day-to-day patient care delivery Assists the new nurse transition post-orientation to a competent entry-level PICU practitioner. Exhibits the ability to serve as a resource to the PICU team and Is part of a diverse, multidisciplinary PICU team The RN demonstrates an expanding knowledge base in the management of nursing care for specific types of patient populations and their families. The RN applies more in-depth clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an increased capacity to problem-solve through application of the nursing process.

Required Qualifications

Candidates for the Experienced Registered Nurse position on the Pediatric PICU must maintain active RN licensure in the state of Maryland. Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing preferred. Associate Degree candidates may be considered, provided they are either currently enrolled, or will shortly be enrolled in an accredited RN to BSN program. Eighteen months of recent RN experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Maryland RN license Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of Nursing Minimum 3years ICU experience Experience should include training and coaching responsibilities
